Join in an infectious celebration of singing this spring as Choir of the Year tours venues across the UK in a search to find the best amateur choir. Choir of the Year is the UK’s national choral competition and in 2014 invites choirs to celebrate its 30th anniversary and the sixteenth biennial competition.
Supported by family, friends and members of the public, around 140 choirs from Classical to Jazz, Gospel to Glee will take the stage at Audition venues around the country in an attempt to impress a panel of expert judges and be voted through to the semi-finals.
Any amateur choir consisting of 8-100 singers can take part and registration is now open at www.choiroftheyear.com. Following the Auditions, which take place from March to June, the top sixteen choirs will go through to the Category Finals at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 19 October 2014 and from there just six Grand Finalists will compete for the title Choir of the Year 2014 at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on 7 December 2014, broadcast on BBC Radio and TV.
Presenter and conductor Greg Beardsell will ensure choirs and audiences alike raise the roof with their voices in this national celebration of choral singing.
